The Unusual Story of Professor Pup
How does an eye surgeon end up in early reading education?
Dr. Mike Colvard believes every child deserves to live beyond their circumstances. He also believes education is the key to unlocking a brighter future.
One day, Dr. Colvard began to realize just how much the ability to read can impact a child’s future – from their self esteem to their career success. It broke his heart knowing that factors outside their control held so many children back from the start. So he decided to do something about it.
During his journey, he was shocked to discover that most kids don’t receive comprehensive phonics instruction in school, even though all scientific studies on reading show that phonics instruction is essential to reading success.
He decided to create a program that provided kids with everything they needed to make connections between sounds and written symbols. However, he also realized that kids learn best when they are fully engaged, comfortable, and having fun. At that moment, Professor Pup was born.
This cute and lovable character helps kids feel happy and safe while learning to read. He combines delightful animations and fun songs they can dance to with proven, comprehensive phonics based learning. Who says phonics has to be boring?
